Metal Nitrosyls

Organometallic compounds containing nitric oxide as ligand are termed as metal nitrosyl complexes. Here I post metal nitrosyl complexes and their bonding modes.

Due to the upgradation of blog site by GOOGLE, some feautures are not working. A download link is provided separately to download the presentation.

METAL CARBONYLS - II

This post is the continuation of what we discussed in the last post. It deals with the evidence for different binding modes of carbonyl ligand with the metal ion. This presentation also includes the preparation and properties of some metal carbonyls.

METAL CARBONYLS- I

This post discuss about the basics of metal carbonyls and the bonding in such type of compounds. Students are expected to answer the exercise-II based on the topic. You can download the questions from the link given below. The last question in the exercise is not from this topic but from coordination chemistry you are studying in this semester.

SUMMER RESEARCH FOR STUDENTS

Dear Friends,

Happy New year.
This year's first post starts with the presentation of Mr. S. Kapil, our Final year B.Sc, student. The reason I post this presentation is He is the First Person in the history of The 60 year old Chemistry department to attend a summer research program. He attended the program organized by Indian Academy of Sciences during May 2017. I identified his brilliance in Chemistry from my very first class I taught him during 2016. When I asked told that there is such type of programs are available he immediately accepted and started to process towards the summer program. He got opportunity at IICER Kolkatta and successfully finished his project. This post is dedicated to him for his passion towards doing research in Chemistry. Most of our south district students are not aware of this kind of Summer programs. I would like to give information about such programmes via this presentation.

Hats off Mr. Kapil. Image result for hats off

You Really make us (Depart of Chemistry, SJC. ) Proud.

Nomenclature and 18 Electron rule

Naming of organometallic compounds and predicting the stability of the organometallic compounds using 18 electron rule are discussed in this post. Hope this will give enough understanding.

Organometallic Compounds -I

Hello Dear friends, After a short break I Post the above topic. This post gives you a small introduction about Organometallics their emergence and timeline of oranometallic compounds. Hope you follow. Thank you.

Organometallic compounds are chemical compounds containing at least one chemical bond between a carbon atom of an organic molecule and a metal, including alkaline, alkaline earth, and transition metals, and sometimes broadened to include metalloids. They are used both as a catalyst and reagent in the synthesis of organic compounds.
